Productivity is a key business attribute that you need to master if you want your business to succeed. Productivity is easy to enhance if you are prepared to put in the effort – a little will go a long way. Below I have listed my top three hacks to boost productivity and reap business success in the process.

1) Create a visual to-do list.

The best and easiest way to boost your productivity is to create a large to-do list with the tasks listed that you need to complete, in order of urgency. Having a visual reminder of what needs to be done will stop you putting the tasks to the back of your mind and will help you focus on the present. Moreover, listing the tasks in order of urgency will help you to prioritise what needs doing first, and you will feel a great sense of achievement and success when you are able to tick off the first task and shorten your list.

2) Prep your workstation for the day ahead.

It is far too easy to become distracted from work when your desk is a tip – no doubt you will have to stop work to find important information that you need. To prevent this happening, spend a few minutes at the end of each day prepping your desk for the next day – write your to-do list and make sure that everything is easy and accessible to hand for the morning. Doing this each day will become part of a routine wind-down ritual that you will grow to enjoy; it will ensure that you are in the right frame of mind for the next day ahead and in turn, will have a positive impact on your work.

3) Don’t obsess over your emails.

A key way to boost productivity is to limit yourself to only checking your inbox three times a day. Whilst it is important to respond to urgent emails as soon as possible, regularly checking your inbox can reflect badly on you as it can portray the idea that you have nothing better to do than to check your emails. Customers / colleagues won’t usually expect instant replies as they will also be at work, so don’t feel pressure to respond to every email as soon as it arrives in your mail. Make a habit of checking your inbox and clearing it three times a day and you will soon reap the rewards.
